Lawrence A. Bates, 88, of Clanton died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Hatley Health Care, Clanton.
He was born Thursday, Dec. 30, 1920 in Chilton County, son of the late John D. Bates and the late Frances Robinson Bates.
He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his special nephew, Mr. Danny Bates of Clanton; special niece, Mrs. Susie Mattis of Pelham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mable Jean Bates.
Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, June 27 at the church.
Services will be held Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at Providence No. 2 Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Brooks officiating.
Interment will follow in Providence No. 2 Baptist Cemetery, Clanton. Martin Funeral Home directing.
