Several downtown streets will be closed this weekend due to Peach Fest activities.

On Friday, the Clanton Police Department will close the following streets, beginning at 3 p.m.:

-Second Avenue North from the intersections of Sixth Street to Fifth Street (Area that runs in front of City Hall and the county courthouse).

-Sixth Street from First Avenue North to just north of Corner Park.

Parts of downtown will also be closed Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., for the Peach Parade. The parade route will follow the same path as last year. Several streets will be closed, including:

-Portions of Seventh Street between Fifth Avenue North running south to the bridge.

-Sixth Street from the bridge running north to Third Avenue North.

-Third Avenue North running east to Third Street.

-Side streets along this route will also be closed.

“I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone on either Friday or Saturday. This is a great annual event that highlights our city and the safety of those participating and those whom come to watch are the police department’s first priority,” said Clanton police chief Brian Stilwell.
