Chilton County High hosted five other football teams and about 250 players Thursday for the Central Alabama Football Camp—and the Tigers came out on top of them all.

CCHS took top honors in the 7-on-7 passing game portion of the camp. Both the Tigers and Maplesville went undefeated in pool play and then played in a championship game, which CCHS won, 29-23.

“A big thing I saw was all of our kids competing,” CCHS coach Brian Carter said. “That’s what we’re looking for—good or bad, what you do the next play.”

Billingsley, Isabella, Jemison and New Brockton also participated in the camp.

Carter said he hopes the camp becomes an annual event.

“I think we got a lot out of it,” he said.
