Peach Run a chance to impress

The Sixth Annual Peach Run is an opportunity for Clanton and its residents to make a good impression on out-of-towners.

About 60 runners so far have registered for either the 5K or 10K, and between 80 and 100 runners usually participate. Most of those are not local residents, race coordinator Lori Patterson said.

“Even if people aren’t runners, we encourage them to come out and watch the race,” Patterson said. “Most of the runners are from out of town, so it’s an opportunity for them to meet people and see Clanton.”

Both races will begin at 7 a.m. on June 20 at Cornerstone Fitness and Wellness, wind through downtown Clanton and end back at Cornerstone.

Registration for either race costs $25, and those interested should visit Cornerstone or call 280-6450 and request a registration form be faxed or e-mailed.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the male and female winners of the 5K and 10K runs, and prizes will be given to the winners in each age division.

Those interested can register the morning of the race but would not be guaranteed one of the T-shirts that will be given to all those that pre-register.
