Thorsby was a winner Thursday and Chilton County High was in the process—not that the scores mattered.

Thorsby defeated West Blocton 4-2 in a practice game at Clanton’s Jack Hayes Field, and CCHS led the same West Blocton team by the same 4-2 score after three innings in a game that ended too late to be included in this edition of The Clanton Advertiser.

Thorsby struck for three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning of its game Thursday and never trailed.

The Rebels added an insurance run in the fourth when a Blake Elkins double plated Christian Sorcia, who reached via base on balls.

Sorcia walked twice and scored both times. Evan Bryan had a double in three plate appearances.

Cody Carroll was the winning pitcher. Carroll struck out five in seven innings of work.

In its game, CCHS jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Kipp Moore led off with a walk, Jalen Osborne followed with an infield base hit, Tanner Powell doubled home Moore and, one out later, consecutive singles by Cameron Cummings and Blake Norman provided the 4-run deficit.

West Blocton in the bottom half answered with two runs of its own, however, off CCHS starter Cummings.
