A north Chilton County church is inviting area farmers to sell their produce on its grounds next month.

The United Methodist Women of Shiloh United Methodist Church located just south of Calera will host a community farmers’ market and yard sale Saturday, July 18 beginning at 8 a.m.

The church will also welcome vendors and individuals to sell items in the yard sale portion of the event.

“This is happening all over the Southeast anywhere people have produce to sell,” church secretary Myrna Wood said. “The community is building up north of us and some south of us, and we’re just trying to bring the two together.”

Wood said the sale would benefit Chilton County residents who often have to travel as far as Birmingham to sell their produce. Shiloh is advertising the sale in both Chilton and Shelby counties.

The only admission for setting up a booth is $5, which will go to the United Methodist Women. Tents are welcome, and some table spaces under shade trees will be available on a first come, first served basis.

“Vendors must have a license in order to accept vouchers from senior citizens,” Wood pointed out.

The church will have free concessions available at the July 18 sale for everyone who attends.

Shiloh UMC is located at 6214 County Road 151, three miles south of Calera just off Highway 31. For more information call (205) 790-2886.
