The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday its first case of the swine flu–H1N1 influenza–in Autauga County. As of June 3, there were 92 confirmed and eight probable cases of the swine flu in the state.

The newest case means swine flu cases have now been confirmed in 15 of the state’s 67 counties.

Madison County has had the largest number of cases with 35, followed by Montgomery and Etowah counties with eight cases each. Another county neighboring Chilton County, Shelby County, has confirmed four cases.

Approximately half of those confirmed cases in the state have been in those under 13 years of age. The symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of traditional influenza and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
