Mary Louise Varden, 85, of Jemison died Friday, May 29 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

She was born Saturday, Sept. 29, 1923 in Chilton County, daughter of the late John Robert Ellison and the late Bessie Bolton Ellison.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Ralph Allen (Jean) Varden of Thorsby, Robert Oneal “Pete” (Myra) Varden of Jemison; daughter, Brenda Gayle (Gary) Miller of Jemison; two grandsons, Bryan Keith Varden of Cummings, Ga.; Ryan Oneal (Rachel) Varden of Jemison; four granddaughters, Melanie Dawn (Rodney) Jackson of Jemison, Christy Lynn (Jamie) Ray of Jemison, Theresa Ann Varden of Thorsby, Monica Dawn (Kelly) Perry of Jemison; nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Robert Bernie Varden, husband; Vernon Kent Varden, grandson; and Juanalla Layne Crumpton, granddaughter.

Services were held Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Christ Sanctified Holy Church with Bro. Don Roebuck officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens. Martin Funeral Home directing.
