The Maplesville softball team defeated Verbena twice, 16-4 and 3-0, in the Class 1A, Area 6 tournament at Holy Spirit, earning the Red Devils a second place finish that is good enough for a berth in the regional tournament on Friday.

Verbena will not advance.

Maplesville lost to Holy Spirit twice, 10-0 and 7-3.

Bridget Nichols went 4-for-5 at the plate in Maplesville’s first win to suppor winning pitcher Autumn Smith.

Courtney Killingsworth earned the second win and also went 3-for-3 at the plate.
