Volunteers are valuable asset

No one is immune to an economic recession. Unfortunately, that means many community services do not have the funding to meet all the community’s needs. Local senior centers are good examples of this.

There are homebound seniors who could benefit from Meals on Wheels, but participation has been frozen because the program is short on funding. That means for the time being, someone would have to die for a new participant to be added. Of course, we do not want that to happen.

Anyone, however, can purchase meals for seniors through the Hearts for the Hungry program. There are countless other ways to help.

There is something to be said about doing a good deed and asking for nothing in return. While it might be hard to make sacrifices, the need has never been so great.
