The Jemison softball team split two games Wednesday at the Class 4A, Area 7 tournament, and the team’s season on Thursday will come down to a third game.

The Panthers lost to tournament host Bibb County, 16-1, defeated Holt, 4-1, and at 4:30 p.m. Thursday will play the loser of the preceding BCHS-Calera game.

The top two teams in each area advance to the regional round of the state playoffs.

In the win over Holt, Shelby Lopez, Codi Mims and Amber Simmons all had two hits. Brandi Baker was the winning pitcher. She pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits.

With the game scoreless in the fourth inning, Aly Childress sparked a Jemison rally by dropping down a bunt for a base hit.
