Tigers power surge continues

Lauren Stewart hit the Chilton County softball team’s 10th home run of the season in a 21-0, three-inning win over Class 5A, Area 5 foe Selma.

CCHS coach Krisi Parrish said she likes the way her team is playing heading into Thursday’s senior night game against Thorsby and next week’s county tournament and area tournament at Demopolis.

“We’re hitting the ball better, more consistently,” Parrish said.

The Tigers (12-7, 2-1 area) are definitely hitting the ball hard. April Lewis leads the team with four home runs, both Tiffany Crowson and Bevin Hawkins have hit two long balls, Rachel Johnston has hit one, and then Stewart joined the club with a two-run shot in the first inning to put the hosts up 13-0.

CCHS batted around twice in the inning, and winning pitcher Lindsey Parrish never allowed the Saints in the game.

Parrish allowed only one hit—a double by Myralia Rose—and struck out five.
