Jemison council cancels set meeting

The Jemison City Council had to cancel its regular meeting scheduled for Monday night due to lack of a quorum.

In order for a council meeting to legally take place, a quorum or majority of council members must be present to vote on all issues. A minimum of four council members must attend the meeting.

According to City Clerk Mary Ellison, at least one council member was unable to attend due to illness. Several others were either out of town or had other conflicts.

Until further notice, the meeting will not be rescheduled. The next regular meeting is set for Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m. in the council quarters of Jemison City Hall.
