Submit photos and join our team

The news department of The Clanton Advertiser announced this week it would like for people to submit pictures they take of events that occur in Chilton County. The news department will select and run as many of the photographs as practical each week.

Pictures of county residents being recognized by clubs, church groups or other organizations, pictures of tournament winners, contest winners and the like could be shared by you through the pages of The Advertiser.

Today, just about everyone owns some form of a digital camera. When I cover events where I plan to take a photograph, I have found that more and more people are there with their cameras. I’m sure cameras are present at events missed by our news team.

Digital photography allows you to download your photographs to computers, make prints at home and email your pictures to others easily. You can email photographs you want to submit to newsroom@clantonadvertiser.com.

The photographs should be taken by you and the email should include the names of all the people in the photograph, date taken, event, and occasion. And, the pictures need to be current.

You can also bring your photographs by the newspaper office on Highway 31 North in Clanton.

Emailed photographs should be sent in color in large format as a jpeg.

Having people submit photographs they take will enable us to publish more interesting photographs of people and events of Chilton County. While we try hard, it is not possible for our staff to be everywhere in the county when photo opportunities occur.

Sharing your photographs with us will enable The Clanton Advertiser to publish more pictures that will eventually find their way into scrapbooks. Sharing them will also assure your picture will be a part of the historical record of the county when they are published.

The next time you take a picture of a local event and think it would make a good news photo, send it and you might just see it on the pages of The Clanton Advertiser
