Two more days should reduce lines

If you’ve ever stood in line at the Clanton driver’s license examining office, Wednesday’s news that the office will open four days a week instead of two is significant.

Twice weekly simply wasn’t sufficient to fulfill the needs of a county the size of ours, and the long lines that could be found when the office was open served as proof. The office issues state ID cards, driver’s licenses and learner’s permits.

These items are important, and most people work on weekdays and don’t have the time to wait in long lines.

“Monday they were lined up from the driver’s license office to the drink machine,” Chilton County Probate Judge Bobby Martin told The Clanton Advertiser. The addition of two days of operation should help.
