Thorsby baseball coach Ab Argent on Tuesday earned his 100th win in his fifth year at the school as the Rebels beat Billingsley, 5-0.

Argent called the milestone a tribute to players and assistant coaches.

“Some of the kids have been keeping up with it, and I’ll say, ‘Hey, let’s just play,’” Argent said about trying to keep the chase from becoming a distraction as his team fights for a playoff spot. “When they’re so excited about it, you stop and think, well maybe this is pretty neat.”

The Rebels (16-5, 4-2 Class 2A, Area 9) emptied a cooler onto Argent after their win.

Cody Carroll was the winning pitcher. Carroll threw a complete game shutout and struck out 12.

Thorsby was led at the plate by Brantley Bice (2/4, R, RBI), Evan Bryan (1/3, 2B, 2 R) and Joseph Prather (1/2, 2B, R).

Thorsby also won on Monday, 10-0 in six innings, at Fultondale. Trent Glosson was the winning pitcher in that game. Glosson went the distance and allowed only two hits while striking out seven.

Bice (3/4, 2 R), Bryan (1/3, R) and Prather (2/4, R) were good at the plate again, as were Blake Elkins (2/3, 2 R), Dustin Wilson (2/2, R) and Glosson (1/2).
