In their second dramatic game of the season, Chilton County’s softball team got the best of rival Jemison again. This time, the Tigers won 4-3.
CCHS won the first meeting, on March 13, on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Wednesday’s edition, which was postponed from Tuesday because of rain, saw the Tigers (4-3) score two runs in the top of the sixth to claim a 3-2 lead, the second run on a Rachel Johnston double.
Both teams pushed a run across in the first inning and didn’t score again until Alexis Reeves’ single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth scored Shelby Lopez from third base.

Rachel Johnston, Chilton Co.—1/3, BB, 2B, RBI
Shelby Lopez, Jemison—3/3, BB, 3 R
Alexis Reeves, Jemison—2/3, 2 RBI
Lauren Stewart, Chilton Co.—3/4, 2B, R
CCHS took the lead in the sixth then added an insurance run in the seventh on a Bridget Robinson single that plated Lauren Stewart.
That run would turn out to be important as the Panthers (3-12) scored one in the bottom of the seventh on a Reeves single.
Brianna Cleckler was the winning pitcher. She allowed three runs on 10 hits and three walks in seven innings while striking out six.
