William Earl Wilson, 81, of Thorsby died Thursday, March 19, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.
He was born on Sunday, July 17, 1927 in Birmingham, son of the late Euriah Wilson and the late Inez Cotton Wilson.
He retired as police captain with the Birmingham Police Department after 31 years. He was also a counselor for Shelby-Chilton Mental Health for six years.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine C. Wilson of Thorsby; three sons, William L. (Janice) Wilson of Adamsville, Robert E. Wilson of Tallahassee, Fla., Max A. (Kim) Wilson of Hohenwald, Tenn.; five grandsons, Galen C. (Amy) Wilson of Hueytown, Daniel L. (Tasha) Wilson of Loxley, Robert E. “Robby” Wilson Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla., Alex Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev., Delbert Wilson of Hohenwald, Tenn.; and great-grandson, Nolan C. Wilson of Hueytown.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. today, March 21, at Thorsby Memorial Cemetery.
Graveside Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Thorsby Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Von McQueen officiating.
