Otis Varden Jr. (Booner), 63, died March 14 in Santa Rosa, Calif., of pneumonia complication.
Mr. Varden was born in Jemison Nov. 10, 1945 to Otis and Lurlean Ellison Varden.
Otis attended school at Jemison High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He retired as a licensed electrician and plumber in California.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otis Varden; and brothers, George Varden and Renfroe Varden.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Lurlean (Gene) Richardson of Texas; son, Otis Manroe Varden of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Lurlean Ellison Varden; brothers, Wallace Varden of Clanton and Jackie (Jan) Varden of Clanton; sisters, Doris Maddox of Clanton, Shirley (Gerald) Smitherman of Clanton, Helen Varden of Knoxville, Tenn., Betty Nave of Clanton and Kathy (Jackie) Tracy of Clanton; 18 nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 21, at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2 in Jemison.
Family visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m.
