The tragedy in South Alabama, where a man went on a killing spree, that ended with 10 people and the shooter himself dead is truly tragic. There is no other way to say it.

We do not know what happened on Tuesday, and we can’t imagine what the community of Samson can be going through at this time. However, we can’t ignore what happened.

This is one of the worst — if not the worst — acts of violence ever to happen in this state.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families, friends and community members that have been devastated by this terrible act of violence.

We also must investigate what happened as much as we can so that something like this never happens again.
