A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in Jemison for rape, sodomy and sexual abuse following an investigation of a domestic abuse case.

Jemison Police investigators arrested Jamie Azanza Pedraza of Jemison for two counts of rape, two counts of sodomy and one count of sexual abuse. He is currently being held in the Chilton County Jail under a $300,000 bond.

Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer said Pedraza was originally arrested and charged with domestic violence. While the suspect was in jail, Detective Jeff Moore and Cpl. Jeff Manasco continued the investigation.

The investigation revealed that Pedraza allegedly held the victim, a female acquaintance, against her will while at the female’s residence, which is located off Highway 155 on County Road 135, over the course of two days prior to the arrest.

“The female victim alleged that during these two days, Pedraza sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her and her kids if she told the police,” Fulmer said. “Investigators developed enough evidence to officially charge Pedraza and have done an excellent job with the investigation. This was not a random case of violence; therefore, there’s no need of alarm from other residents.”
