Auburn rallies to beat Alabama in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY — Auburn centerfielder Trent Mummey scored the winning run in the ninth inning to propel the Tigers to a wild 8-7 win over Alabama Tuesday night.
Tide closer Jimmy Nelson (1-1) allowed two runs and three hits in the ninth for his first loss of the season.
A triple, double and a sacrifice fly helped the Tigers (10-4) to take the lead for good. Auburn right-hander Zack Blatt (1-0) retired the final six batter to earn the victory.
Alabama right-fielder Kent Matthews slugged his NCAA-leading 10th homerun of the season.
The non-conference game at Montgomery’s Riverwalk Stadium drew 7,489 fans.
