One woman was airlifted to the hospital after her truck apparently collided with another vehicle, crossed the median of I-65 and flipped on its side near the 211-mile marker in Clanton yesterday afternoon.

Clanton Police have identified the victim as Lynette Bond Boshell, 55, of Vinemont. She was airlifted by LifeSaver helicopter to the hospital. Her condition wasn’t known as of press time.

Authorities said the victim was traveling southbound in the right lane about 4:15 p.m. when her Chevrolet Silverado swerved into the left lane and struck a Ford SUV. The driver of the truck then lost control, went into the median and flipped.

The truck came to rest in the northbound lanes of traffic. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

No one in the SUV was injured in the crash, and there was no one else in the truck.

Clanton firefighters responded to the scene and rescued the victim out of the vehicle within minutes.

The wreck closed down I-65 northbound for at least an hour. I-65 southbound was shut down for a few minutes as LifeSaver helicopter landed on the northbound lanes. As the emergency helicopter landed on the interstate, numerous drivers who were parked behind the crash scene got out of their cars to look at what was going on.

As soon as the helicopter safely took off from the wreck scene, traffic was released in both directions.

Traffic was backed up on I-65 northbound for four miles while many drivers exited I-65 at Exit 212 southbound.

About a mile behind the wreck on I-65, an Autauga County School bus appeared to be stuck in the median after it tried to get out of the way for emergency vehicles.
