Friendship Baptist Church

Bro. Jerry Reynolds brought our message Sunday morning from 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. The message was entitled, “Ambassadors of God’s Love.”

Bro. Jerry spoke on reconciliation. We are all different. In order to survive, we must have acceptance; we must accept who each other is.

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. No matter what you’ve done, the Lord can reconcile your sins. We need to live our lives as ambassadors for God. It is up to us to help get our pews filled. We see people every day who are hurting.

During the evening service, Pam Jones sang “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.” With the Lord’s help, we can run and leap for joy. Everyone we come in contact with is living under a set of circumstances. The name of Jesus can change our circumstances, hearts, minds and souls.

Get a-hold of someone’s life. You can make a difference in the name of Jesus.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1

As we rode to church this Sunday morning, it was indeed a different drive. Snow covered the world all around us. Snowflakes were falling.

God is in control. To everything there is a season (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

We had a great service, small in number but very spiritual. Bro. Ricky’s sermon was entitled, “The Rose of Sharon,” and he took his scripture reading from Song of Solomon 2:1-17.

We wish to express our sympathy to the family of Travis Price following the death of their loved one. Remember this family in your prayers.

Our brotherhood breakfast was very enjoyable, and we say “thanks” to Bro. Roger Mims for such a wonderful message.

Ladies, remember Saturday, March 7 is our Day of Prayer meet. The story of Annie Armstrong’s life can inspire you to be involved in missions. Lunch will be served. Meet with us at 10 a.m.

Tuesday, March 10 is senior celebration at Union Grove Baptist Church at 10 a.m.

A pounding for Terry and Jenny Hayes will be Wednesday night, March 11 at the church.

Primetimers will meet Friday night, March 13 at the Jemison Trade Center for an outing at 6:30. See you then.

Calvary’s Hill Church of God

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Proverbs 30:5).

Praise God for his many blessings! What a beautiful world we awoke to Sunday morning! The Maharrey’s were with us for morning service and they sang several songs, played some instrumentals, then Sis. Nancy Maharrey brought the message from Hebrews 2:1 titled “Don’t Slip.” When we’re first saved, we have a zeal for God and for telling others about him, but as circumstances in our lives drag us down, we lose our passion for God. Our valleys take us through dry places and all we can see is our present situation, but God says “Don’t give up!” We have to hold fast to God’s word and bring his promises to our remembrance, not speak defeat by what we say. God can take “not enough” and make it “more than enough;” he can take the impossible and make it possible. Sometimes we may question our circumstances, but we should never question God’s purpose. Satan may try to destroy us by bringing up our past; God says we’re forgiven!

Our teen drama team went to competition for the first time Saturday in Bessemer and came in runner-up in their division. Congratulations to them! We’re very proud of them for their hard work and dedication and for how they put their heart into what they do. Also, a special thanks goes out to Sis. Tracy for giving of her time and her encouragement.

We didn’t have church Sunday evening due to the weather. Please pray for our nation, each other, and especially the lost. If you don’t have a home church, come join us. Sunday morning service starts at 10 a.m., Sunday evening at 5 p.m., and Wednesday night at 7 p.m., followed by supper. The church is located on Alabama Highway 191, two miles outside Jemison.

New Covenant Fellowship

As we study Psalm 1 we learn that the righteous individual will not “stand in the way of sinners.” In other words, this person refuses to stop and associate with offenders of God’s Word. Paul agreed. He said, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’ Come back to you senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-I say this to you shame” (1 Corinthians 15:33-34). Sometimes, we have to give up some of our friends because, “Bad company corrupts good character.” Many young people have lost their faith through “bad company.” To “stand in the way of sinners” is to adopt the rebellious life style of the wicked. When believers do not shutter at unethical behavior of the ungodly, those believers indicate that they have lost some of their sensitivity to sin. I’m not saying that we can have no contact with the unrighteous. If we didn’t, we could not reach sinners for Jesus. Remember Jesus’ words when he said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Matthew 9:12-13). The Psalmist also states that the righteous person will not “sit in the seat of the mockers.” This means that Christians refuse to sit down with those who turn their noses up at God. Pates Chapel Church

All were shocked at the sudden death of Travis Price. We ask your prayers for this family as they cope with their grief. They would like to thank you for your food, flowers, cards, visits and kind words. A special thanks to Bro. Clint Harris and Bro. Bill Short.

Our hearts were saddened at the passing of Valerie Sue Holmes, daughter of former pastor, Rev. Paul and Jane Holmes. Valerie was very special and stole our hearts during their ministry here. A stroke had left her blind. She often spoke of Jesus healing the blind man and knew she would one day see again. No doubt she is gazing over heaven today. Her family thanks you for visiting her in the nursing home and all your support. Pray for them.

Services re-scheduled for Sunday will be baptism for new members. Relay For Life lunch for only $5.00. Stay and support this and all the fund-raisers for this worthy cause.
