Savannah Pratt likes science because “it’s just more fun” than other subjects in school, she said.

Pratt, an eighth grader at Isabella, participated in GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science) last year with three of her classmates. Together they participated in a statewide science fair in Birmingham where they entered a project displaying the elements of the Periodic Table and how they are used in household items.

Pratt is also in Junior Beta Club and plays flute in the school’s marching band. She said the flute is an easy instrument to play.

“That was the first thing that came out of my mouth,” she said when asked why she chose that particular musical instrument.

Pratt also wants to learn the bass guitar and enjoys listening to music and playing with her pet cat, Pierre.

When she graduates, she will possibly attend the University of Alabama and become a writer.

“I would like to be a writer, but anything I can be happy and successful at is fine with me,” she added.

Pratt admitted that when she was younger, she wanted to be a circus performer.

“I think my exact words were ‘street performer,’ but it was circus based, which is kind of funny because I’ve never been to a circus,” she laughed.

Pratt is the daughter of Billy Pratt and Delana Horton and has an older brother, Jacob.
