Chilton Medical Center and Dr. Hari Ramasastry a sponsoring a free health fair Saturday, March 7 at Clanton United Methodist Church’s Activity Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The health fair is promoting Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths.

Free colon cancer screening kits will be available in addition to other health screenings.

Refreshments will be served and a drawing will be held for door prizes.

Dr. Ramasastry, a gastroenterologist practicing in Clanton, said everyone 50 years old or older need to understand a colon screening could save their lives.

The theme of this year’s health fair is “Colon cancer is treatable, preventable and beatable.”
