MONTGOMERY — Gov. Bob Riley’s administration has launched a state Web site that details state spending, including contracts, leases and bids that have been awarded.

Riley says the Web site (http://www.open.alabama.gov) is another step in bringing greater transparency to government spending.

The site includes thousands of expenditures. The spending is not yet searchable by topic, but Riley says that feature will be added by Sept. 1.

The Web site also provides links to other sites that provide politicians’ campaign finance reports and the state budgets.
