The drivers of two vehicles involved in a near head-on collision were injured in a crash on Alabama HIghway 22 in Clanton near the Chilton County School Transportation Department shortly before 5 p.m. yesterday.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital with no apparent life-threatening injuries. The crash shut down one lane of traffic for about an hour.

A Saturn car was traveling east while a Chevrolet truck was traveling west on Highway 22 when the two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane. The driver of this Saturn car had to be extricated.

The Clanton Police Department is investigating the crash.
