Want to enjoy a sit-down lunch, catch up on the news, have a cup of fresh coffee, or surf the Net? Durbin Farms Market has plenty of space for you to do it all.

The business, popular among locals as well as travelers through Chilton County, has added 1,800 square feet to better accommodate its customers. They also have free wireless Internet and can now seat between 180 and 200 people in the newly renovated dining area.

Owner Danny Jones said they are also installing TV monitors and are planning to introduce several new menu items.

“We’re trying to do the little things that make the difference,” Jones said.

Thursday, customers were invited to tour the new addition and enjoy free soup and cookie samples.

Jones said Durbin’s sandwich and ice cream shop still offers everything on its previous menu but is planning to add new sandwiches, different types of soups and new ice cream flavors.

“The pina colada is the one everybody’s going crazy over,” he said, hinting at some of the new items including homemade cherry ice cream, banana splits and fresh jalapeno bread.

The produce market, which used to close for the winter, is now open year round, Jones also noted.

“That’s one thing people may not realize,” he said. “You can get fresh produce year round.”

The facility can also host meetings after hours and can seat up to 200 people for that purpose.

Jones invites everyone to come see the new improvements, and promises the same cleanliness and hometown feel as before.

“There’s one thing about us, we will be clean,” he said. “We focus very strongly on everything being spotless, and personality.”
