Thought for the week: “Memories”

“Our Creator’s in our corner each moment of each day, standing by to guide us in His own special way. We must always be thankful for our dear Savior up above. He showers us with riches and His unconditional love. Through Him we have our parents who are always standing by to be our constant example, it’s with them our blessings lie. Time has a way of reliving, growing older, we reminisce with thoughts of our dear families and the softness of each kiss. Our fortune is our families made possible through our King. No money on earth can ever buy the love their smiles bring. Yes, these lovely things He’s provided to make our lifetime sweet, and none can ever be replaced…these moments make life complete.”

The Rev. and Mrs. Donald L. Nix will celebrate his sixth anniversary as pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Maplesville tomorrow at 2 p. m. The Rev. L. C. Young, pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Maplesville, will be the guest speaker. All churches are invited.

United A.M.E. Church in Verbena where the Rev. Sammie Nelms is pastor will hold their annual Mission Day Program tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Robert Lewis, pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Verbena, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service of songs and prayer by the junior praise team. Songs included “One More Time,” “Jesus Is the Light” and “This Little Light of Mine.” The scripture was read by Willie Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Steven Nunn.

The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes and was entitled, “Our Individual Service to God.” Matthew 25:14 reminds us that having potential is not enough; many people have potential but no production. You can be good, but if you are not working on it you can’t be great.

Are you stuck in neutral? Don’t bury your talent. Produce for God — don’t dig a hole and bury it. Be productive with God’s gift. He will ask one day what you did you do with your gifts; He blessed you with. God expects certain things from you like productive service. Examples can be Sunday School teaching or Bible School teaching.

What kind of service are you doing? God judges your lack of action just like he judges your action. To produce for God, you must hear him. Are you stuck at salvation? Are you comfortable doing nothing? God desires us to have goals and visions. See yourself productive for God. Have drive and determination to serve. God has called us to labor. How many souls have you won for Christ? How many have you introduced to Jesus? Use what you have — if you have only one talent, use it.
