Lettie Powell

Lettie Crew Powell, 95, of Clanton died Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Chilton Medical Center, Clanton.

She was born on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1913 in Coosa County, daughter of the late James Isaac Crew and the late Queenie DeVaughn. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her three grandchildren, Brandon Dennis of Birmingham, Ashley Robbins of Birmingham and Kadie Whatley of Birmingham; four great-grandchildren, Kadin Dennis of Birmingham, Boone Robbins of Birmingham, Ryder Robbins of Birmingham and Henry Augustus Whatley of Birmingham; sister, Clara Smith of Clanton; brother, J.B. Crew of Tallassee; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Powell; daughter, Rhonda Dennis.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Hurd and the Rev. Matt DeBord officiating. Interment will follow in Clanton City Cemetery.
