Faye King is all about family. Whether you’re talking about her four grandchildren, her church family, or community, she considers everyone as important as her own.

The Jemison City Council member has served for 12 years and is currently serving her fourth consecutive term. She is the only female ever to run with opposition in the city and be elected.

King also works with her local rescue unit as an EMT basic — which she has done for 15 years.

One of the things she is best known for is coordinating Jemison’s annual Christmas parade alongside her husband, John. The Kings have helped turn the parade into one of the county’s biggest celebrations.

“We make it a family effort,” she says.

In her spare time King regularly attends school athletics and other functions to see her grandchildren and the children of others she knows.

“I’m always there with them to support them,” she says.

King is a 1967 graduate of Jemison High School. She went on to earn her associates degree at Wallace Community College.

King says the number one issue facing the council is having the finances to meet the city’s needs.
