Chris Davis, a retiree of 10 years, enjoys his work on the board of education. When he has extra time off he likes to go golfing and spend time with his family including wife, Myra Cleckler Davis; son, Jason, a nurse; son, Rex a supervisor at a golf course in Charolette N.C. and his grandchildren, Breanna, Lillian and Shelby.

Davis was the youngest of seven children six of which graduated from Verbena High School.

Davis got his start in education when he started coaching at a Goodwater High School.

He coached for 4 years and has been part of the public education system for 30 years.

Within his 30-year career in education, he was principal at two local schools including Thorsby High School for one year and Chilton County High School for five years.

Through being a member of the Chilton County Board of education Davis is hoping to bring some of his experience to the table.

“I have put in enough years I think to help make a difference in the public education system. With three grandchildren in school or about to be in school I really believe in the public education system and I want to do what I can to help make it the best that it can be for all the kids attending,” he said.
