Habitat for Humanity of Chilton County is selling cookbooks and children’s books to raise funds for their upcoming project.

The books, provided by Habitat for Humanity International, are available from KayeCee’s Flea & Antique Mall and Heaton Pecan Farm.

There are two different kinds of cookbooks and three different children’s books.

The cookbooks are $15 each, and the children’s books are $7.

“We are doing this both to raise awareness about Habitat and to raise funds for our next project,” Habitat president Jane Conradi said.

The cookbooks feature recipes compiled from Habitat volunteers around the world, and the children’s books tell valuable lessons about what it means to help others in need.

“They’re nice, colorful hardback books,” Conradi said.

“We’re hoping people will put them in their church libraries.”

Meanwhile, the local Habitat affiliate is going through potential homeowner applications from which they will select the next Habitat homeowner. This is done chiefly by the Family Selection Committee and must be approved by the board of directors.

“We hope to have an announcement about our next homeowner before too long,” Conradi said.
