The Alabama House passed a bill this past week that would prohibit Alabama drivers from text messaging while driving.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jim McClendon (R-Springville) would make it against the law to send or receive a text message on your cell phone while operating a vehicle on the state’s public roads.

While this may not be the easiest law to enforce, we agree there should be stricter laws pertaining to electronic devices and driving.

But how can you really tell whether someone is texting or dialing a phone number without observing them for an extended period of time? Either way, it’s distracting to drivers and dangerous to everybody on the road.
