A local Relay for Life team needs your support to help raise money for cancer research.

The Chilton County Board of Education’s Relay team is selling space on a billboard for names of cancer survivors and those whose lives were cut short by the disease.

Anyone can purchase a space for $100 and have their loved one honored or memorialized on the billboard, which will be in a prominent location somewhere in the Clanton area.

The deadline for the fundraiser is Saturday, Feb. 28, and more names are needed to help the team reach its goal for 2009.

“We have several people who have been on it every year since we started it,” said Ann Glasscock, Relay co-chairperson for Chilton County. They actually look forward to having their name on the billboard.”

All proceeds from the billboard fundraiser go toward the American Cancer Society.

The billboard is donated every year by Allen Deason of A&M Outdoor Advertising.
