CCA girls can’t solve Northside problem

Even in a historic season, Chilton Christian Academy still couldn’t find a way to get by Northside (Dothan).

The homestanding Patriots (8-11) this season went undefeated in area play and hosted a sub-state playoff game for the first time, but Northside ended CCA’s season for the fifth consecutive time, 39-12.

Both teams played the game with intensity from the beginning. Neither team scored until Northside’s Jesi Chitton found Hannah Jordan on a fastbreak with 5:38 left in the first quarter.

CCA, meanwhile, didn’t convert a field goal until Greda Brock scored inside 1:30 later, but the Knights (17-8) had a four-point lead at the time and stretched it to 10-1 after one period.

The quick Northside defense forced the hosts into outside jump shots, when it wasn’t stealing the ball, and CCA couldn’t shoot well enough to threaten the lead.

Jordan posted a game-high 14 points, and teammate Kendall Smith had 11.

Greda Brock shouldered the offensive load for the Patriots, scoring nine points.
