Thought for the week: “God Is Never Beyond Our Reach”

“No one ever sought the Father and found He was not there, and no burden is too heavy to be lightened by a prayer. No problem is too intricate and no sorrow that we face is too deep and devastating to be softened by His grace, no trials and tribulations are beyond what we can bear if we share them with our Father as we talk to Him in prayer.

And men of every color, every race and every creed have but to seek the Father in their deepest hour of need — God asks for no credentials, He accepts us with our flaws, He is kind and understanding and He welcomes us because we are His erring children and He loves us everyone. And He freely and completely forgives all that we have done, asking only if we’re ready to follow where He leads — content that in His wisdom He will answer all our needs.”

Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Montevallo will celebrate its 34th anniversary tomorrow, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. The Rev. W. T. Evans is pastor. The Rev. Willie Ross Williams, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Montevallo, will be the guest speaker. All churches are invited.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Maplesville will have early church services tomorrow at 8 a.m. Bro. Jasmond Clay will bring the morning message. The Rev. L. C. Young is pastor. Everyone is invited.

We would like to wish a happy birthday to Mrs. Ivie Nix of the Campbell Settlement Community in Maplesville. Mrs. Nix will be 95 years young tomorrow. We hope she will have many more wonderful and blessed years to come.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service of prayer, scripture and songs. Songs sung included, “God Is Wonderful,” “Praise the Lord,” “Look What He Has Done For Me” and “Hallelujah Unto the Lord God.” The scripture was read by Perry Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Steven Nunn.

The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme was “Do You Care? Society Doesn’t Care.”

In today’s society, it’s every man for himself. The family structure is dissolving very fast. We need each other; you can’t celebrate alone. Learn to care for others because when you do, you won’t be selfish. Keep your mind on the Church and Jesus, not your problems. Two are better than one. Be in a position to help someone. Lift them up, dust them off and help them carry on. Stop judging others.

Cultivate a genuine interest in others, not a phony interest. Don’t talk about them and tell all their business; be genuine and Christ-like.

Don’t have selfish ambition. The Church is a training ground to learn how to help folks. You forget about your problems when helping others. You find when you are in trouble, God has someone to come to your rescue.

Offer sincere encouragement to others — have a kindred spirit or some soul who shares the same vision. Practice an unselfish release — don’t hold on to things too long. There is someone who cares. A time will come to let go of your children, and you must let them do for themselves. If you love a person, you’ve got to learn to let go.

Serve a God who knows how much you can bear, and lean on God if you’re alone. What a friend we have in Jesus. He will stand by your side and give you strength. Benediction and remarks were led by Pastor Dukes.
