After impressive seasons in only their second seasons of competition at the high school level, Chilton County High wrestlers Colby Bernier and Caleb Mims have been eliminated from the state wrestling meet today.

Bernier and Mims, both sophomores on a second-year program, lost their first two matches in the double-elimination tournament.

Mims, competing in the 125-pound class, was pinned in 48 seconds by Arab’s Jarod Stephenson. Then, in a consolation match, Mims was pinned in 2:53 by Erwin’s Chris Pilot.

Bernier, competing in the 152-pound class, was pinned in 1:48 by Hayden’s Josh McCoy. Bernier was then barely eliminated, by a 5-4 score, in a match with Scottsboro’s John Will White.

The losses leave Bernier with a 19-9 record, and Mims’ mark stands at 24-16.
