Pancake days worth the support

If you walk outside your home this morning and smell pancakes, you’re not alone. Enough organizations hold “Pancake Day” fundraisers this time of the year to fill the county’s breezes with the scents of dough and syrup.

Bell Lane Baptist Church’s pancake day was Jan. 31. Don’t fret if you missed it, though. The granddaddy of them all, First United Methodist’s 51st annual pancake day, will be held on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Then, on Feb. 28, the Jemison Masonic Lodge will cook up their hotcakes.

At $4 for all the pancakes you can eat, these events are a bargain. And they’ll both benefit worthwhile organizations.
