In the coming months, Chilton County will host several guest speakers who will address issues related to the economy. These speakers will appear at monthly chamber of commerce luncheons that are open to the public.

Tuesday, the chamber will welcome Alabama Securities Commission Director Joseph Borg.

“I think he will be interesting in light of the current economic climate,” Chamber Executive Director Pennie Broussard said.

The Alabama Securities Commission regulates the state’s securities industry, helping to protect investors against securities fraud and providing enforcement against firms or individuals who have violated state or federal statutes.

In March the chamber will welcome Karen Johnson, a member of Gov. Riley’s blue ribbon team for Broadband Internet in rural areas.

“We’re just trying to do informative meetings,” Broussard said. “We’ve got to figure out what we can do to survive, grow and flourish.”

Tuesday’s luncheon will begin at noon in the Helen Parrish Activity Center. The cost of lunch is $7, and everyone is invited to attend.
