Lauren Price of Jemison Middle School likes a good challenge. That’s obvious when you ask her what her favorite subject is.

“Algebra I,” she said without hesitation. “I catch on real fast.”

The 13-year-old is also into sports and music. She has played on the middle school’s volleyball team and says volleyball is her sport of choice.

“It’s fun. There’s a lot of action and thinking on your feet,” she said.

Lauren is learning to play the piano in her spare time because it’s something she has always wanted to do. She has been teaching herself for a couple of years and has just started taking lessons.

When listening to music, she prefers rock and pop.

“I like Taylor Swift,” she says.

Lauren has set high career goals for herself as well. She wants to attend the University of South Alabama and become a marine biologist.

“I’ve always loved animals and the ocean,” she said.

She is also on the yearbook staff, National Beta Club, FCCLA, and is a member of the youth group at Jemison First Baptist.

Lauren is the daughter of Chris and Dana Price of Jemison and has two younger sisters, Sarah and Audrey.
