Normally, when you think of a pageant, you don’t think about finding a cure for cancer. But the Smile for a Cure pageant is unique in its goal — all proceeds benefit Chilton County’s Relay for Life.

The fifth annual Smile for a Cure Pageant will be Saturday, Feb. 21, at Maplesville High School’s auditorium beginning at 2 p.m.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church No. 2 is presenting this pageant, which includes the following categories: Baby (0-2), Wee (3-4), Tiny (5-6), Little (7-10), Young (11-13), Junior (14-15), and Miss (16-18).

There will be a queen, four alternates and a photogenic winner for each division.

Registration and practice is Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the school auditorium. Practice is encouraged but not mandatory. Pageant dress is required. Entry fee is $25 for pageant and photogenic.

On the day of the pageant, all contestants are asked to arrive by 1:15 p.m. to sign in. No entries will be accepted after 1:30. The pageant will begin promptly at 2.

Admission at the door is $5 for adults and $2 for students. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society — Relay for Life. Please bring an unframed photo to registration no larger than 8 x 10, or mail your entry to Relay for Life Beauty Pageant, 8722 County Road 307, Lawley, AL 36793.
