Douglas Terry, a 1973 graduate of Maplesville High School, led the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) High School Seahawks to a Class 3A state football championship last season.

Terry is the athletic director for all sports at Myrtle Beach High School. Terry graduated from Clemson University in 1977 and has been coaching at different schools in South Carolina ever since. He became AD after his son graduated from high school in 2000.

Terry’s wife, Jo, is also in education as a teacher for gifted students in grades 1-3. Terry’s son, Joseph, has followed his father into coaching as he is the softball coach at Mauldin, S.C. Terry’s daughter, Jennifer, will graduate in May from college and become a secondary English teacher.

Terry led many teams to playoff games during his coaching career, and now, as athletic director, has accomplished the highest goal. During the regular season, the Seahawks only lost one game, by one point, due to a missed field goal with 5 seconds left on the clock.

The Terry’s all come to Alabama a few times a year for holidays to spend time with Terry’s mother, Guinivere Terry of Plantersville.

Douglas spends his spare time hunting, fishing and umpiring college baseball.

Though Terry has been in South Carolina most of his adult life, he is still an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
