CCHS splits first home meet of season

Chilton County High on Tuesday hosted its first wrestling meet of the season, and the Tigers split with Brookwood and Chelsea.

CCHS, a program in its second year of existence, will host its only other meet on Jan. 22 when Wetumpka visits for a match that is also CCHS’s next on the schedule.

On Tuesday, the Tigers fell to Brookwood, 42-27, in the first match of the night.

Winners for Chilton included Caleb Mims in the 125-pound weight class, Cody Ellis in the 145-pound class and Dylan Jackson in the 171-pound class.

Justin Jackson, wrestling in the 189-pound class, won by forfeit.

Brookwood defeated Chelsea next, and CCHS edged Chelsea, 36-24, in the final match.

CCHS’s winners included Mims, Cameron Blackmon and Dylan Jackson.

Steven Martin and Caleb Smith both won by forfeit.
