Bryan and Gretchen Filgo are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Merry Brittany Filgo, to Brandon Michael Shanks, son of Mike and Joyce Shanks.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elaine Filgo and the late Mr. James “Bubba” Filgo of Randolph and Mr. and Mrs. Willis A. Teel of Clanton. She is a 2005 graduate of Bibb County High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Doss “Sonny” Lovelady, the late Mr. Hershel Shanks, and Mrs. Nettie Shanks Smith all of Maplesville. He is a 2000 graduate of Maplesville High School and a 2005/2008 graduate of the University of Montevallo, where he earned bachelor and master’s degrees in education. He is currently employed at Maplesville High School.

The wedding will take place on Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at Centreville Baptist Church. All family and friends are invited to attend. The couple will reside in Randolph.
