Austin Rossi is the Geography Bee winner at CMS

Austin Rossi, an eighth grader at Clanton Middle School, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee by answering oral and written questions concerning geography. This gave Rossi the opportunity to take the written qualification test to compete for the advancement to the state level. The Bee is an educational outreach program of the national Geographic Society. It is designed to encourage the teaching and study of geography. Rossi is the son of Chris Rossi and Michelle Wade.

AUM announces 10 local graduates for fall semester

Three hundred and fifty Auburn Montgomery students will receive degrees at the fall semester commencement on Saturday, Dec. 20.

Students from Chilton County who received degrees were John Allen Bolton of Clanton (bachelor’s in business administration), Lisa H. Crownover of Clanton (master’s in education), Vanessa L. Griffith of Clanton (master’s in business administration), Dustin Thomas Karn of Clanton (master’s in public administration), Courtney Jade Pairrett of Clanton (bachelor of science in education), Francis William Speaks of Clanton (bachelor of science in justice and public safety), Hannah L. Turner of Clanton (master’s in business administration), Oakley Rexanna Yeargan of Clanton (bachelor’s in nursing), Tanya Connell Morris of Jemison (bachelor’s in business administration) and Stephanie Nicole Pinson of Verbena (bachelor’s in business administration).

Prospective Science Majors Invited to CSI: Huntingdon

The Office of Admission and Financial Aid and the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Huntingdon College will host a special event for prospective science, math, and psychology majors. CSI: Huntingdon will be held Saturday, January 24, 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on the Huntingdon campus, beginning in Flowers Hall.

“So often we are only able to scratch the surface about our academic programs during Host Days,” says Tommy Dismukes, vice president for admission and financial aid. “CSI: Huntingdon will allow students to spend about 30 minutes with each of the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Psychology, and to learn about the academic programs at the same time they learn the basics of investigation.”
