Three Chilton County people are in jail today after Jemison Police quickly solved a residential burglary and recovered stolen property Thursday evening.

Those arrested were 32-year-old Christopher Lynn Minor of Clanton, 19-year-old Kevin Wayne Minor of Clanton and 20-year-old Latashana Jerrell Chaney of Clanton. All three suspects were charged with burglary and theft of property.

Interim Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer said a residential theft and burglary in the 1000th block of Alabama Highway 191 near Holly Grove Church was reported to the department around dinnertime Thursday. The suspects apparently made forced entry into the residence and stole prescription medication, $4,500 in jewelry and $600 cash.

Investigator Jeff Moore with assistance from on duty Jemison police officers was called to the scene to investigate.

“[D]uring the investigation, our officers received valuable information from witnesses that led to the arrest [of the suspects],” Fulmer said. “The investigation led us into other areas of the county where we received assistance from the Sheriff’s Department and the Clanton Police Department, which was very much appreciated.”

The suspects were arrested in Clanton almost six hours later around midnight. Almost all of the stolen property was recovered. Fulmer said some of the cash had been spent before the arrest.

“We always work these types of cases in the hopes of solving them by capturing the ones responsible and recovering as much of the stolen property as we possibly can. Fortunately, we were able to do both,” Fulmer said.

“This case was worked very well and in a proficient and professional manner.”
