“The preparations of the hearts in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Thought for the week: “We Must Grow in Faith Together”

“We must never take for granted the blessings we receive, as we share the faith with us with others who believe. We must grow in faith together and lift each other up, as we gather at His table to share the bread and cup. We are free to assemble, to serve and praise the Lord, and bear witness to all nations in love and one accord. We must never be complacent or we’ll surely drift away from the fellowship that binds us when we worship and obey. We must grow in faith together, each one in his own way, as we gather with God’s children to worship Him and pray.”

Morning Star Baptist Church in Clanton will present a play entitled, “A Birthday Party for Jesus,” tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Keith Moore is pastor. Everyone is invited.

The C.C.T.S. Alumni Preservation Association and Agee Brothers Enterprises present the annual Christmas Luncheon for Senior Citizens in Chilton County today at Clara’s Country Cafe from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A prepared meal is provided to our senior citizens free of charge.

For all others a freewill donation is asked.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service in prayer, scripture, song and testimony. Songs sung: “Come and Go To That Land,” “Jesus I Love To Call Your Name” and “God Is Everything.” The scripture was read by Perry Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Perry Nunn.

The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme: “Do You Have Trust Problems?” Solomon said don’t forget God’s word, keep it in your heart. Take mercy and truth and hang it around your neck. Learn how to trust and bring peace in your life.

What is trust? It means to have hope, to attach oneself to that belief.

The devil won’t allow you to see your blessings. Attach yourself to trust; animosity will not allow you to focus on God, but he will open doors for you. Do you trust beyond what you can see? Trust must be developed; if you trust you know God is the word.

How should I trust in God? In all your ways acknowledge him, trust with your whole self. Lean not to your own understanding. Abraham trusted God.
