MONTGOMERY — Alabama State has promoted Monique Holland to athletic director.

Holland had been an associate director overseeing the athletic department’s NCAA rules and compliance program since June. She will replace the retiring Ron Dickerson in January.

ASU President William Harris said Friday that Holland brings a great deal of experience to the job.

Holland came to Alabama State after working as an associate AD at Georgia State and as the assistant director of membership services for the NCAA. She also had stints at Clayton State and Georgia Tech.

The NCAA recently placed Alabama State’s football program on probation for five years for 17 rules violations including changing grades and allowing ineligible players to play and practice.
